Developed in the late 1940′s, hydrofracing is now a highly efficient method of releasing natural gas from the Marcellus Shale and other shale formation across the United States. The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York has developed a concise fact sheet entitled The Facts About Hydrofracing which details the hyrdofracing process and the chemicals used in that process. As IOGA of NY continues to research this important issue, we will make periodic updates to this fact sheet.
